Activity Assistant
STGi is currently seeking an Activity Assistant to provide services at the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home. The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home is located in Temple, TX. Our staff provides compassionate and specialized care to our nation's veterans. We focus on providing the best experience for residents and their families.
JOB SUMMARY: To support the implementation of an activity program, in order to meet the individual needs of residents in the community, in accordance with state, federal, VA and STGi guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct activity programs to assist residents to return to the community
- Conduct neighborhood mtg. as requested
- Implement evening and weekend functions as necessary
- Complete all in-services required timely
- Consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality
- Consistently cooperatively works with others
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Document all interaction in PCC required by state and federal guidelines
- Participate in special dementia programs for residents family and others
- Take the food handler certification
- Implement individual and group activities as directed by the activity director.
- Ensure all daily documentation is complete, accurate and timely.
- Work collaboratively with other departments in order to provide for the needs of the residents.
- Assist with planning and executing weekend, evening and holiday functions as necessary.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: CNA Certification preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required

- This position primarily involves standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing and pulling (typical weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 30 lbs., approximately), and lifting (minimum weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 30 lbs., approximately).
- The position requires repetitive finger movements as well as hearing and talking on the phone and in person.
- Must be able to continuously deal effectively with stress created by residents, multiple tasks, noises, interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a pleasant attitude.
