Provides exceptional customer service by performing a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the custodian care, maintenance and, audio visual knowledge for the Killeen Arts and Activities Center Campus, in accordance with all safety regulations, established procedures in a professional and presentable manner.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Employee has no supervisory responsibilities.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Moves assorted tables, chairs, dance floors, portable stages, table and chair and table carts, stage panels, and special equipment for catered and special events. Reads room layout and set up instructions for events.
Removes debris by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, shampooing, and extracting carpets, buffing, polishing, stripping floors, cleaning restrooms, dusting furniture, baseboards and woodwork, washes windows and walls, sanitizing drinking fountains, door handles, and all other building surfaces, etc.
Replaces light bulbs, unstopping drains and toilets and sweeping sidewalks and entryways.
Operates cleaning equipment and identifies hazardous chemicals related to Material Safety Data Sheet labels, reads diagrams and checklists.
Empties trash and garbage cans and relines cans with liners. Picks up litter from around buildings and grounds.
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and restocks supplies; cleans spills; cleans drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, light fixtures, etc.
Maintains safe entry into buildings (i.e., wet, or icy areas in front of the entry doors, etc.). Unlocks all outside entrance doors upon arrival, and locks all outside access doors at the end of events or at the close of business hours.
Monitors events and maintains contact with clients to ensure guests and vendor safety and that the City and Center policies have been followed; documents damage or policy violations to KAAC Manager; recognizes, corrects, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
Greets clients and guests upon arrival with a friendly and professional manner and appearance. Responds to client, guest, and management requests in a timely and professional manner.
Operates and/or coordinates the set up and operation of all audio/visual equipment necessary for events.
Inspects and maintains assigned custodial equipment, and small hand tools for proper operating condition.
Arranges furniture, pictures, decorations, etc., as needed and as assigned.
Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license and comply with City of Killeen driving policy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED); and
2. Six (6) months of directly related experience; or
3. Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
1. Working knowledge of equipment, materials, chemicals, and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance.
2. Working knowledge of sound equipment, audio equipment and related components.
3. Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs; some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
4. Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
5. Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
6. Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time.
7. Ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
8. Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
9. Ability to establish effective working relationships.
10. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must have a valid driver's license by date of hire.
2. Must obtain and maintain a Texas Driver's License within 90 days of hire.
3. Must be able to work nights and weekends, holidays and flexible hours driven by event scheduling.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED
Portable scissor lift, forklift, ladders, hand tools, extension cords, floor buffers, steam cleaners, carpet cleaners, pressure washers, vacuums, mops, broom, and dusting equipment. Sound and audio equipment to include microphones, cords, projectors, and screens. Also, appropriate safety equipment as required to include eye safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, safety harness, closed toe shoes or boots.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
