Office Assistant (Building Inspections)
Performs routine clerical, secretarial and administrative work in answering phones, receiving the public and providing customer assistance.
The employee will have the responsibility of:
• Providing administrative support to the Building Inspections Division., Responsibilities include composing, typing, and editing a variety of correspondence, emails, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgement as to content, accuracy, and completeness
• Performing clerical work, answers phones, and receives the public for Building Inspections
• Being the backup to Principal Secretary, Clerk Supervisor, and Permit Technician staff in their absence
• Collecting and distributing mail, utilizes city vehicles makes deposits, handles moneys and cash receipts, and arranges for various meetings as required
• Assisting in gathering information in the preparation of the annual budget
• Assisting with making travel arrangements and various reservations for the divisional staff as needed
• Working on special projects as needed, such as the Car Wash Facility Recycle Program, and Unsafe Dangerous Building Program. Assist with Short Term Rental Application process

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Graduation from high school or equivalent with course in general office practices, such aa typing, filing, accounting, and bookkeeping; and
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements:
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license within ninety (90) days of hire
• Must have a valid driver's license by date-of-hire
