  2026-02-14     FAR Inspections     Killeen,TX
Description:

Occupancy Verification Position

FAR Inspections invites enthusiastic individuals to take on the role of Residential Property Inspector, conducting vital occupancy verifications for mortgage lenders. This is a fantastic opportunity for independent contractors looking to earn stable full-time or supplemental income while enjoying the perks of a flexible schedule. While previous experience in mortgage field inspections isn't mandatory, strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. Headquartered in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has proudly served the community for over 9 years.

What Is An Occupancy Verification?

Mortgage lenders need timely updates on their properties, and that's where our inspectors come in. The primary focus of these inspections is:

  • To confirm property occupancy.
  • To evaluate the overall condition of the property using a user-friendly mobile application.

Most inspections are conducted externally, with approximately 10% requiring interior photographs only when the property has been vacated.

As a contractor, you'll be responsible for inspections within your designated county. In instances of high demand, you may share county responsibilities with another inspector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform most inspections within a timeframe of 5-6 minutes.
  • Complete assigned inspections within 4 days of assignment.
  • Assess general property conditions and determine occupancy based on established industry standards.
  • Capture 9 or more photos of the property with concise comments.
  • Fill out a short form in the mobile app.
  • Prepare for extended periods of driving with multiple stops in your assigned area.

Requirements (To Be Considered You Must Have The Following):

  • A computer with internet access.
  • A reliable vehicle (good fuel efficiency is beneficial, as you'll cover your own gas expenses).
  • A smartphone (Android or iPhone).
  • A printer.
  • The ability to pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

Pay And Hours

This is a 1099 position where payment is based on a set fee per inspection. Rates vary according to county and inspection volume, typically allowing you to earn between $20-$30 per hour. Depending on your assigned county, you can expect to complete anywhere from 20-500 inspections monthly, dedicating 2-30 hours weekly. While lower-volume counties offer higher inspection rates, those with higher volume tend to have lower rates. There is no guaranteed number of inspections monthly, but consistent work is available every month.

As you prove yourself and adapt to the role, there's potential for increased earnings through greater availability or willingness to cover larger areas.

Please note that there is no additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
