Abrams Tank Maintenance Mechanic Fort Hood, TX $31.47/Hour Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. Responsibilities: * Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on Abrams tanks (M1A1 SA, M1A2 SEP V2, SEP V3) * Execute and install Modification Work Orders (MWOs) on vehicle systems and components * Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using technical manuals, flow diagrams, and diagnostic procedures * Perform repairs on vehicle systems, subsystems, and components * Maintain accountability of special tools, test equipment, and assigned property * Support maintenance, fielding, and retrofit operations as directed by leadership Qualifications: * U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law * High school diploma or equivalent * Ability to obtain access to U.S. military installations (NACI clearance if required) * Minimum 1+ year of mechanical maintenance experience * Experience with Abrams tanks (M1A1, M1A2 SEP V2/V3) preferred * Technical Skills: * Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic flowcharts * Certifications/Requirements: * Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain a tank driver's license * Ability to pass Abrams Job Proficiency Certification * Must meet anthropometric (ASR) requirements for operating military vehicles * Physical Requirements: * Lift/carry up to 50 lbs, climb, and work at heights * Work in extreme temperatures and outdoor environments * Work Environment: * Ability to work independently alongside government personnel * Travel: * Willingness to travel for maintenance, fielding, and retrofit operations (CONUS) **This job includes a competitive prevailing wage, which ensures you are paid according to legally required local industry standards when assigned to eligible government-funded projects.
