Commercial Loan Officer Summary: This position is responsible for developing new business through underwriting, structuring, and closing commercial loans, while maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio.Major Duties and Responsibilities Acquisition, expansion, and retention of commercial relationships using a proactive calling strategy.Cross‑sell ancillary products and services of the bank.Analyze credit history of applicants and determine loan repayment capabilities.Negotiate credit terms, including costs, repayment methods, and collateral specifications.Develop and maintain interest rate structure consistent with institutional policies and competitive market rates.Evaluate potential customer loan requests and make recommendations to management.Daily review, approval, and disposition of commercial overdrafts.Review new laws and regulations that influence business lending and recommend changes to management.Provide assistance and recommend training for new commercial loan officers.Develop new customer prospects and business for First United.Represent the bank in the local community through active participation in community affairs.Additional Duties and Responsibilities Handle customer complaints and escale issues as needed.Maintain cleanliness in and around the work station.Recommend possible methods to improve the department.Complete all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.Adhere to all First United policies and procedures.Dress professionally.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Employee Specifications Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or accounting preferred.Minimum of three years of experience in commercial banking.Extensive knowledge of commercial lending policies and procedures.Business development experience.Technical/Functional Competencies: Exceptional customer service skills.Good problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.Demonstrates good judgment.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people.Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and non‑verbal forms.Willingness to accept additional responsibilities.Dependable and adheres to timelines and schedules.Initiative in development and completion of projects.Note This job description is not intended to be all‑inclusive.
