Data Center Fiber TechnicianOverview

TEKsystems is seeking experienced Data Center Fiber Technicians to support large-scale data center operations. This role is focused on fiber connectivity within MDF and IDF environments, including fiber termination, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and labeling. Candidates should be able to work independently, understand network connectivity concepts, and contribute immediately with minimal onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Terminate and install fiber optic cabling and LC connectors.

  • Work within MDF and IDF closets to connect and maintain fiber infrastructure.

  • Terminate and dress fiber patch panels according to customer standards.

  • Verify connectivity and ensure proper operation of fiber links.

  • Troubleshoot fiber connectivity issues using:

  • OTDR

  • VFL (Visual Fault Locator)

  • Fluke testing equipment

  • Clean, inspect, and polish fiber connections.

  • Label cabling and hardware accurately.

  • Update and maintain documentation within the FIM database.

  • Understand end-to-end connectivity between fiber infrastructure and connected network devices.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a data center environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience with fiber optic installations and patch panels.

  • Experience terminating LC fiber connectors.

  • Ability to test and troubleshoot fiber optic networks.

  • Knowledge of network connectivity and structured cabling concepts.

  • Experience with fiber cleaning, inspection, and certification procedures.

  • Ability to read and follow labeling and documentation standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Meta tools such as:

  • MyPatch

  • Surf

  • Elevation

  • Previous experience supporting Meta data center projects.

  • Experience with Cat6 and structured cabling installations.

  • Fiber splicing experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Per diem: $161/day for food and lodging.

  • Per diem is paid for every day worked (up to 7 days per week).

  • Overtime paid at 2x hourly rate.

Important Notes

  • Candidates who have worked at Meta within the last 6 months are not eligible to return to the project.

  • Contractors currently supporting the site through other vendors are not eligible for recruitment onto this program.

This is a Contract position based out of Temple, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
